I. Core Product Parameters
- Package: SOT23-3
- Pin Definition: 1-GND (Ground), 2-VIN (Input), 3-VOUT (Output)
- Input Supply Voltage Range: -0.3 V ~ +36 V - Operating Ambient Temperature: -40 ℃ ~ +85 ℃
- Storage Temperature Range: -45 ℃ ~ +140 ℃ - Thermal Resistance θJA (No Airflow, No Heat Sink): 500 ℃/W - Maximum Power Dissipation PD (Ta=25℃): 0.2 W
- Reference for other packages in the same series: SOT89 and TO92 feature thermal resistance of 200 ℃/W with maximum power dissipation of 0.5 W.
II. Key Product Features
- Member of the SL75xx linear regulator series, with on-chip error amplifier and phase-compensation circuits. - Output is regulated by comparing the internal reference voltage against the feedback voltage-divider network. Output voltage remains stable regardless of input-voltage fluctuation and temperature change. - Wide-input-voltage support with maximum input voltage up to 36 V. - Compact SOT23-3 surface-mount package, suitable for space-saving PCB layout. - Loop compensation relies on the ESR of the output capacitor, enabling simplified peripheral circuitry.
III. Main Application Fields
- Power supply voltage regulation for consumer electronic products - Power-supply circuits for portable devices - Auxiliary power supplies for industrial control - Various on-board secondary low-voltage regulator circuits
IV. Engineering Design Recommendations
- A capacitor larger than 2.2 µF must be connected from the output terminal to GND. The on-chip phase compensation requires cooperation with the ESR of the output capacitor; otherwise, loop stability will be compromised. - It is recommended to fit 10 µF polarized capacitors at both input and output ports. Place the capacitors as close as possible to the chip’s VIN and VOUT pins for improved filtering performance. - Strictly limit the actual power dissipation of the IC. Power-dissipation formula: PD=(VIN-VOUT)×IOUT. The real-world power dissipation shall not exceed the rated maximum value of the corresponding package; excessive power dissipation will result in permanent device damage. - Evaluate the maximum allowable output current comprehensively based on package thermal resistance and ambient temperature during design to prevent thermal failure.
V. Product Summary
SL7544-8 is an SOT23-3 packaged LDO linear regulator from the SL75xx series. With a wide input-voltage range, it achieves stable output via the built-in error amplifier and suppresses voltage disturbances induced by input variation and temperature drift. Housed in the small-form-factor SOT23-3 surface-mount package, it occupies minimal PCB space. Proper peripheral capacitor configuration and power-dissipation verification are mandatory during implementation. It is well-suited for low-voltage regulation scenarios including consumer electronics, portable devices and industrial auxiliary power supplies.
