On October 22, Beijing time, Huawei held a new product launch conference overseas, and its new flagship mobile phone Mate40 series was officially unveiled. As previously rumored, this time Mate40 released three products named Mate 40, Mate40 Pro, Mate40 Pro+, as well as a Mate40 Porsche design, and the new Kirin 9000 chip was also unveiled.
??
At this press conference, Huawei still mainly promoted two mobile phones, Mate40 Pro and Pro+. The Mate40 series adopts the same design idea as the previous P40, that is, Mate40 Pro and Mate40 Pro+ use the same size screen, which ensures that the two phones are exactly the same in terms of basic measurements.
This time, Huawei Mate40 series still cooperates with Leica, which is even better in color reproduction and expression. The Huawei Mate40 series continues the excellent full-focus shooting capabilities of Huawei's flagships. Huawei Mate40 supports 3x optical zoom, Mate40 Pro supports 5x optical zoom, and the most high-end Mate40 Pro+ supports an optical zoom range of up to 17x.
??
Thanks to the front dual-camera combination, Huawei Mate40 Pro and Huawei Mate40 Pro+ also support ultra-wide-angle selfies, making it easy to shoot whether it is a group photo or a grand scene. The Huawei Mate40 series is equipped with dual front and rear movie lenses, which improves the video recording experience and supports new video super anti-shake technology.
??
The OLED screen size of both phones is 6.76 inches, with a 90Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2772 x 1344 pixels. The processing of the front lens is also the same as that of the P40 series, using a "pill" opening design in the upper left corner of the front. Huawei has brought dual speakers to this phone.
??
The biggest difference in appearance between the two phones comes from the color and material of the fuselage. Mate40 Pro uses a glass panel and comes in five colors, including white, black, silver and two new colors, named "Summer Populus euphratica (green)" and "Autumn Populus euphratica (yellow)". The Mate40 Pro+ has a black and white ceramic back shell, which is exactly the same as the design idea of the P40’s extra-large cup.
??
The biggest highlight of the core hardware part comes from the Kirin 9000 processor. This Huawei's newly designed mobile processor is built using TSMC's 5nm EUV process and integrates a 5G baseband with a total of eight cores. According to official data from Huawei, this processor has 30% more transistors than Apple's A14.
??
In terms of GPU, the Kirin 9000 is equipped with the new ARM Mali-G78 MP24, which is the world's first mobile graphics processor with 24 cores. Compared with the Snapdragon 865+, the performance is improved by 52%. The overall energy consumption ratio is also at least 25% higher than that of Snapdragon 865+.
??
In terms of battery, Mate40 Pro and Pro+ are equipped with 4400 mAh batteries that support 66W fast charging and 50W wireless charging. The battery capacity of Mate40 is 4200 mAh.
??
The lens is another major upgrade for Huawei in this Mate40 series. Mate40 Pro+ has five lenses, including a new 50-megapixel main lens, a 10X periscope optical zoom ultra-telephoto lens, a 20-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 3X telephoto lens, and a ToF lens.
??
Huawei has introduced a new main lens on the Mate40 series. This lens has a 1/1.28-inch sensor area and continues to use the RYYB pixel arrangement with a pixel size of 50 million pixels. There were previous rumors that Huawei’s lens was provided by omnivision, but Huawei did not announce the manufacturer of the main lens at the press conference.
