I spent three days at the Munich Electronics Show last week, and also visited a number of local domestic and foreign component manufacturers. Domestic substitution has shown its power in special times. Although international manufacturers, except for a few component companies such as ST, MPS, TKD, and Vicor, have large professional booths, other international manufacturers participating in the exhibition focus more on vertical promotions around more subdivided professional fields. Domestic component manufacturers and companies almost all have large booths to show their strength and muscle to the industry. This is somewhat similar to last month's SEMICON. Domestic manufacturers are obviously very willing to participate in the exhibition, and they don't dare to show off at this time. How long will it take?

Even if international manufacturers did not display at full capacity, they still attracted enough eyeballs on the booth. Although ST's large booth is out of stock this year, it still displays new products in power supply products, automotive electronics and other applications. Vicor, ADI, MPS and NXP also displayed power products in the fields of new energy vehicles, charging piles, AI and servers. These are very local needs in China and are also long-term needs in the future market. Many products are technologically ahead of domestic manufacturers. Even the power supply products displayed at Huawei's booth may not necessarily be technologically more advanced.

From three days of careful observation, it can be seen that domestic substitution is comprehensive and comprehensive. Although in ultra-high-end digital chips, such as communication SOC chips below 7 nanometers, ultra-large-scale FPGA chips, and CPUs, domestic chips have encountered great difficulties. However, the innovative capabilities of domestic analog and power supply manufacturers have been demonstrated. For example, Suzhou Nanocore's pressure sensors, signal conditioning chips, and digital isolators have blossomed in many industrial and automotive applications. "Last year, our temperature sensor was used in a forehead thermometer, and the sales volume was very large. Our pressure sensor and conditioning chip have been applied to a domestic electric car with a huge shipment volume of domestic Internet celebrities. We have also been involved in the electric car in Shenzhen." A staff member of the company's booth said.
Of course, there were also one or two domestic chip manufacturers complaining at the booth. In Hall 2, domestic and international chip manufacturers compete on the same stage. If there is only a large booth but not enough product samples, some people will be left out. The booth of a well-known domestic analog chip manufacturer was relatively unpopular. The author has also observed this. Although there is only a thin line between the booth and other booths, the audience is attracted by other booths. Probably the booth only had some backboard displays and some paper materials. There were not enough products on the booth, only textual materials, which was not taken seriously by the exhibitors. After all, these information can probably be found on the website. Since you choose to go to the site, you must have physical objects, samples and even gifts to attract people.
Industry analysts from the Electronic Enthusiast Network also visited the booth, interacted with the staff at the booth, and made some short videos. You can search for Electronic Enthusiast on WeChat videos and Bilibili videos to find these carefully produced short videos. The interactive content of this kind of booth, combined with the exclusive interviews with corporate experts that our Electronic Enthusiast Network has long-term cooperation with the Munich Electronics Show, contains a lot of useful information. It is very valuable for friends who have not been there to learn about the most cutting-edge technologies and applications.
It is true that some companies were unable to participate in the MuZhan due to the epidemic and other reasons, but they still specially invited experts to accept video interviews with Electronic Enthusiast Network, which provided a lot of useful information.
In the process of communicating with the industry, everyone agreed that domestic ICs have increased a lot of opportunities due to the industry's large shortage this year, and that due to price increases, revenue and profits have increased greatly. But this result is highly contingent. There are also many companies that are struggling to obtain resources from upstream and maintain cooperation with customers because they cannot obtain wafers and packaging and testing capacity. In late April, many downstream factories have already made sounds of despair and began to lay off employees or even close factories because they did not receive chips. This is extremely bad news. Domestic chips certainly cannot fully replace imported chips, whether in terms of technology, production capacity, or research and development. In the long run, it is unlikely. Integration and coexistence. In the global semiconductor industry and electronic manufacturing industry, Chinese chips and international companies are prospering, integrating, and benefiting from each other. This should not change.
Over the past two decades, China Chip has not made progress, and there is no need to think that it is being passively beaten just because it is lagging behind in the short term. In the value chain, everyone should have a reward for their efforts. This is true for international manufacturers, and it should be true for domestic companies as well. Premier Wen's words that hard work will make a country prosperous are still very true now.
