The world's leading charging experience comes from Xiaomi's first standard nanometer GaNFast gallium nitride charger

Dublin, Ireland (PRWeb): Navitas Semiconductor announced on the 15th that its gallium nitride (GaN) power chip has been officially adopted by Xiaomi’s 55W gallium nitride charger (model MDY-12-EQ). The charger is included with the Xiaomi Mi 11 smartphone when it is launched overseas. Xiaomi Mi 11 is the world's first 5G smartphone powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip. It has a 6.81-inch Corning Gorilla Glass AMOLED screen, 1440p resolution, and a 4,600 mAh battery. By using a 55W gallium nitride charger equipped with Nanomicro's GaNFast gallium nitride power chip, Xiaomi Mi 11 can charge from 0% to 100% in just 45 minutes, which is half the charging time of competing flagship phones, and is very compact, only half the size of traditional silicon-based chargers.

Gallium nitride (GaN) is a third-generation semiconductor technology that operates 20 times faster than older, slower silicon (Si) and can achieve up to three times the power or charging speed in one-third the volume and weight. Nanomicro's GaNFast gallium nitride power chips integrate GaN devices, drivers, and protection and control functions to provide the simplest, smallest, fastest power solutions and even higher power performance today. Xiaomi's 55W GaN charger uses Nanomicro's NV6115 GaNFast GaN power chip on a high-frequency quasi-resonant (HQFR) flyback topology and uses an ON Semiconductor NCP1342 controller to run at 200kHz, enabling an ultra-thin planar transformer design and smaller EMI filters and output capacitors.

Mr. Zhou Shouzi, senior vice president of partners and president of the international department of Xiaomi Group, said at the Xiaomi 11 global launch: "The most important thing about the 55W gallium nitride charger is that it can charge many of your electronic devices, including laptops, game consoles and smartphones. We believe this is a truly world-class charging experience."

Gene, CEO and Co-Founder of Navitas Semiconductor SHERIDAN said: “Following the Xiaomi 10 launch conference in February 2020, Nanomicro’s GaNFast gallium nitride power chip was used for the first time in Xiaomi’s 65W gallium nitride charger. Gallium nitride began to enter people’s attention. By October 2020, at the Xiaomi Technology and Investment Day , the debut of Nanomicro's mascot "Little Nitrogen Gallium" caused a sensation in the industry. Today, we are very excited to work with Xiaomi 11 to bring gallium nitride technology to the global market. The overseas version of the 55W NanoMicro GaNFast gallium nitride charger that comes standard with Xiaomi 11 has a European standard 2-pin. AC, this marks that mainstream first-tier smartphone manufacturers have begun to adopt gallium nitride technology, and it also marks that the industry has begun to phase out old low-speed silicon chips.”
